Real Mexican-Themed Colourful Wedding

Add a huge shot of colour to your wedding day with a Mexican theme. It's got to be one of the easiest wedding themes ever, and if you're happy to do a bit of DIY, it doesn't need to be expensive. I've fallen in love with Day and Max's gorgeous rehearsal dinner, designed by the hugely talented Lisa Vorce. Just check out the striking combo of yellow table cloths and red napkins, plus ribbons of every shade. Fill some old tin cans with daisies or tulips, add some fabulous tissue paper garlands and bunting, and you've got a fiesta made in heaven. Stunning pictures published with thanks to Aaron Delesie.

How To DIY Your Wedding Cake - Butterfly Theme

Take one simple white wedding cake, add a flock of butterflies, and caboom! you've got an incredible, dramatic work of art. Just goes to show what a touch of DIY can do. Each butterfly is handmade, complete with antennae {!}, and they come in a variety of species and colours. Buy your beautiful bugs from Butterfly Bazaar, and learn how to decorate your cake in a special tutorial here. For plain white wedding cakes, you can't do better than good old Marks & Spencer.

Wedding Trends of 2014 - Pantone's Radiant Orchid

For those of you who don't follow the Colour of the Year {where have you been??!!}, it's the shade named each year by the colour company Pantone. Last year it was all about Emerald Green, and 2012 was all about Tangerine Tango. This year, the colour is Radiant Orchid, a warm purple with pink undertones, which apparently radiates great joy, love and health. Hmmmm....generally I'm a little sceptical about colour companies and their claims, but Pantone is pretty authoritative on trends, and I can guarantee similar purple colours will crop up across the wedding world throughout 2014. The added benefit is that it's a lot more wearable than Emerald Green or Tangerine {!}, and your bridesmaids won't mind wearing a radiant orchid gown, or carrying bouquet of pretty purple flowers! Here are a few of my favourite on-trend wedding details. P.S. I'm very pleased to point out that my blog uses radiant orchid as one of its accent colours....sooooo on trend it hurts!

Wedding Trends for 2014 - Watercolour Wedding Theme

Ombre weddings have been massively fashionable this year. I'm a huge fan of swathes of colour, and the shading effect is simple stunning, particularly as a contrast against the lovely white background of a wedding marquee or wedding dress. For 2014, the trend has developed into a more subtle effect, where the colours gently blend into each other, just like a watercolour painting. As you can imagine, this style works best on wedding stationery, but it can also look fabulous on your wedding cake, or your bridesmaids' dresses. And it's surprisingly easy to DIY, with tonnes of bloggers posting tutorials {see the links below}. Take a look at these gorgeous ideas - many more on my Watercolour Wedding Theme Pinterest board.

Amazing Rainbow Honeymoon Shoot

So I need to come clean - I've actually posted this honeymoon shoot before, but my newborn baby has decided to have a growth spurt this week, so I've had no chance to do any blogging! Instead I bet on the fact some of you lovely brides-to-be might not have spotted this fabulousness in Before the Big Day's archives. Combining a rainbow theme and hot air balloons, it's a dreamy concoction that ticks every one of my blogging boxes. Shot by Jose Villa, and style by Joy Thigpen, it's too perfect for words. Don't you wish you could be swept away in a hot air balloon the morning after your wedding? So romantic! P.S. For more from Before the Big Day's archives, be sure to take a look at our Real Weddings, Wedding Themes and 2013 Wedding Trends.

Real London Seaside Themed Wedding: Erin & Damon

Today's couple chose London and the seaside as themes for their relaxed, summer wedding, and the combination worked a treat. Just goes to show that if you like two wedding themes, don't feel you have to choose just one. There are so many stealworthy wedding details, I'm finding it hard to pick which ones to mention. I love the deck chairs, the modern venue {Devon House on St Katharine Docks}, the Routemaster Bus, the mini-picnic complete with glass, and the boat filled with booze. But a special mention has to go to Erin's dress, which is simply exquisite. Gorgeous photographs published with thanks to Urban Bridesmaid. Don't miss her description of the wedding, plus lots of the suppliers, below the pictures.

Message from the Photographer, Urban Bridesmaid
Dress code for the wedding was summer dresses and no ties. Hats were optional and left to the discretion of the guests. Guests all met at the bride and groom’s local pub – the Prince Albert and awaited the mode of transport to the church – a red London bus! The bride dispensed with the tradition of not seeing the groom until just before the wedding and joined the guests at the Prince Albert. The groom was overwhelmed at the first look at his bride in her Audrey Hepburn inspired wedding gown, and both were grinning all day!

A quick bus ride away to Christ Church in Mayfair for the marriage service. The bride and groom exchanged vows and signed the register, before boarding the bus to have a sight seeing tour of London, to the delight of both the bride and groom's London and Australian family. The guests didn't go hungry, thanks to a bento box of brie, cheese biscuits, parma ham and grapes sourced by the bride from Borough Market.

The reception was held at Devon House, St Katharine Docks near Tower Bridge with a seaside picnic theme – fake grass, deckchairs, cushions, candles, a boat full of drinks, and a BBQ.

Unfortunately the rain fell with a vengeance in the afternoon, but armed with white umbrellas the guests were determined to have fun, and it didn't stop the BBQ at all. They all enjoyed a sit down dinner followed by wedding cakes in teacups for dessert!

Real Colourful 3-Day Morrocan Wedding: Stephanie & Anand

Prepare yourself for a blast of colour with this incredible destination wedding in Morocco! Stephanie and Anand celebrated their big day in Marrkech, in a three-day extravaganza, which included two wedding dresses and a camel, plus some serious partying. Stephanie arrived at the wedding in a litter carried by four robed men - way to make an entrance! It makes walking up the aisle look passé. I'm also loving the pink awnings and red carpets, plus these incredible two green thrones. Throw in all the wonderful traditional garlands of flowers, beautiful saris and a macaroon cake, and I'm in Moroccan heaven! Fantastic planning by Boutique Souk, and huge thanks to Joe Lasky Photography for his beautiful pictures.

Real Pretty Colourful Wedding: Kaelie & Drew

Maybe it's because the bride is so pretty, or maybe it's because they played golf to celebrate their union, but this wedding has totally captured my heart. Gorgeous couple Kaelie and Drew got married about a month ago, and they clearly had a blast. My favourite wedding ideas to steal? The groomsmens' outfits, the long-stemmed bouquets and the goldfish centre pieces. Big love to the team at Simply Bloom Photography for their lovely pics.
