Real Mexican-Themed Colourful Wedding

Add a huge shot of colour to your wedding day with a Mexican theme. It's got to be one of the easiest wedding themes ever, and if you're happy to do a bit of DIY, it doesn't need to be expensive. I've fallen in love with Day and Max's gorgeous rehearsal dinner, designed by the hugely talented Lisa Vorce. Just check out the striking combo of yellow table cloths and red napkins, plus ribbons of every shade. Fill some old tin cans with daisies or tulips, add some fabulous tissue paper garlands and bunting, and you've got a fiesta made in heaven. Stunning pictures published with thanks to Aaron Delesie.

Colourful Paper Wedding Decorations

For cheap and chic wedding decorations, take inspiration from the Mexican festival Cinco de Mayo. Celebrated on the 5th May, it's a celebration of Mexican culture and heritage, and a great excuse for a fiesta! Add some colour and character to your big day with these tissue decorations - either buy them via Etsy, or make your own - check out my Pinterest board for easy DIY-bride ideas.

Personalised Mexican-Style Paper Lace Bunting

Ever since my trip to the craft markets in Mexico, I've been a huge fan of their amazing paper decorations. Take a look at this romantic laser cut banner by Comeuppance. It's created in the style of traditional Mexican papel picado, and it's the perfect addition to your wedding decorations. Take a look at the Comeuppance website for more pretty designs, and wedding inspiration.

New Wedding Décor Trend: Wedding Piñata

A mega-trend next summer will be Mexican-themed weddings. I can hear you asking 'Mexican? In the UK? Really?'. But believe me, they're going to be h-u-g-e. I'm not suggesting you go the whole hog and say your vows in Spanish, but if you add a touch of Mexican food, decorations and drinks to your wedding, your guests will thank you. Particularly if you start with margaritas! Another tradition that will definitely make its way over the Atlantic is the piñata. Piñata are brightly-colored decorations made from papier-mâché, and the idea is to bash them with a stick until they explode, releasing confetti and candy, signifying abundance or favors from the gods. Isn't it just a brilliant sentiment for a wedding? Check out these sparkling piñata and matching streamers by Confetti System.

Real Quirky Desert Wedding: Jessica & Gray

The couple in this fantastic real wedding have some serious style. I've completely fallen in love with their understated minimalist big day, with its Mexican details and bright colours. My favourite wedding ideas to steal include Jessica's sexy ribbon garter, the Wild West-style font on their wedding programs, and the bridemaid's dazzling red hair accessories. Plus every wedding should have a traditional Mariachi band! Stunning pictures published with thanks to Punam Bean.
