Real Colourful Destination Wedding: Tori & Austin

Colourful weddings take a bit more confidence, but they always turn out gorgeous. So if you're a bride planning a rainbow colour palette, you're going to feel massively inspired by this fabulous real wedding. Set in Mexico, it has the real feel of a fiesta, full of fun, love and life. Plus, there are so many wedding ideas to steal! Check out the colourful napkins, the gorgeous handmade jewelled buttonholes and bride's bouquet, and the cute locket containing pictures of the couple's dogs. Throw in the photo-booth backdrop, the ribboned chairs and the giant Mexican hats, and you've got a wedding made in heaven! Gorgeous pictures published with thanks to the hugely talented Sarah Yates.

Choosing Your Wedding Colours

Choosing your wedding colours will be one of the earliest decisions you'll need to make when planning your wedding. Whether it's just an accent colour, or a set a of complementing shades, unless you've got a good eye or a wedding planner, it could all go horribly wrong.  This is where the truly amazing Colour Palette Generator comes into play. Originally designed for decorators, all you have to do is enter the web address of the image you find inspiring into the box below, and the generator will come up with a palette that matches the image. (If you're having trouble, make sure the link ends with .jpg). So for example, I put in this mood board (with thanks to Polyvore), and the generator offered the selection of shades below. How fab is that for wedding inspiration?!

Real Colourful Quirky Wedding: Joycie & Steven

If you want a colourful big day, you're going to get tonnes of wedding ideas from this incredible affair. Joycie and Steven took over a whole street in their home town in California, and gave their guests access to an ice cream shop, an old dive bar and an awesome bowling alley. How cool is that for a series of venues! I'm loving how they kept the colour palette for their clothes muted, while going all-out for a riot of reds and blues in the accessories. Just check out those chequered table cloths, and the heart scattered cake {very Valentine's} and the exquisite red anemones. Most of all, check out the smiles - they clearly had a blast. Gorgeous pictures published with thanks to the teams at Our Labour of Love.

Real Wedding: Jackie & Aaron

Jackie and Aaron's wedding was a riot of colour, with rich purples jostling alongside vibrant red, pink, turquoise and orange. The decadent-luxe theme continued with grand candelabra and drapes, plus Indian inspired drapes and incredible florals. The happy couple celebrated their big day in New York, but with that much detailing, they could have been anywhere in the world. Perfect inspiration for couples looking to create an international theme to their back-yard big day. Huge thanks to Karen Wise for her gorgeous pictures.

BBD Theme: Polka Dots

Playful, cheeful and downright cute, polka dots are a micro trend this season for spring and summer weddings. They've become hugely popular because they're so easy to use. Big or small, multi-coloured or monochrome, they're super-flexible. You can either design your entire wedding around a theme of spots, or you can use them as a last minute addition by going dotty with your accent colour. Check out these products for inspiration.
