Rain On Your Wedding Day

After one sunny day, we're back to rain again. So although I wish for you to have sunshine on your wedding day, it's probably best if you plan for a wet day, just in case. That way, you won't be sad if you get a spot of drizzle. To cheer you along, here's some fabulous rainy wedding inspiration, collected via Pinterest. There's some great ideas for rainy wedding day portrait pictures, and some fabulous wellington boots! Click here for the Pinterest board for tonnes more gorgeous images.

Real Rainy Wedding - Wim & Endri

With all this wet weather, thousands of British brides are having to come to terms with rainy weddings. Last Saturday was a complete washout, and with rain forecast for this weekend, I wanted to cheer up couples getting married this Saturday with pictures of a rainy wedding that still went with a bang. Trust me - I've been to dozens of wet weddings, and it's never made the slightest bit of difference. Wim and Endri celebrated their big day in South Africa at Endri's family home, with the ceremony in a eucalyptus forest and the reception at the farmhouse. I'm loving all of their wedding details, including {not pictured} their email wedding invitation - a super-cute printable invitation that included a video with instructions as to how it into an origami bird. Other stealworthy wedding ideas include the rustic handmade signs, the mismatched bunting, the covered strawbales and the handmade foody favours. Pâté and pesto - yum! Gorgeous pictures published with thanks to We Love Pictures (Too).

Real Rock n' Roll Wedding: Emily & Jasen

Strong lust for this gorgeous wedding in the mist. Stunning couple Emily and Jasen celebrated their big day in autumn style with dozens of fabulous design-details worth stealing.  Lets just start with the cute badges, peg-cake toppers and Chinese lantern table arrangements, and move quickly on to the free candy-bar, table stationery and hilarious direction sign - I'm loving it all! A huge thank you to the team at Our Labour of Love for their beautiful pictures. So often wedding photography is predictable and formulaic, and I think you'll agree Whitney and Jesse totally break the mould with their brilliant work.

Real Misty Autumn Wedding Plus Giant Cupcake!

This wedding just goes to show that even on a classic grey, English day, a wedding can be truly stunning thanks to the little details. If anything, it's the mist at this couples' big day that makes it all the more romantic and atmospheric. Jessamyn Harris took these gorgeous photographs at the wedding last week, and I just adore all the picnic details - the marshmallows, camp-fire and cushions - plus the GIANT cupcake is the best!

Real Wedding: Heather & James

A brand new morning, and a brand new photographer for Before the Big Day! Meet Amelia Lyon and drool over her amazing pictures of her cousin Heather's wedding to her high school sweetheart James. We're talking serious details, folks - so keep your inspiration notebook close. This was a truly family affair, with aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents chipping in with a helping hand, including the catering! My favourite details are almost too many to count. Let's start with the fantastic bold colour palette of aqua and orange, and move on to the heavenly parasols, handmade paper garlands and personalised soda labels. I'm also seriously loving Heather's pretty waist corsage and James' funky tie. Most of all, I love what they did with the venue. Is there anything more romantic than a roof of sparkling lights? Gorgeous photos published with thanks to Amelia Lyon Photography.

Real Wedding: Alison & Rob

Vintage, feminine and totally gorgeous. That's three words to describe Alison and Rob's exquisite English wedding last autumn, but I've got a lot more! Pretty pink and baby blue were their signature colours, and they themed their wedding in an old-fashioned style with mismatched antique tea-cups, cupcake-stands, rose-studded lavender bag favours and minature luggage tags as place-markers. It poured with rain on their big day, but it didn't spoil their reception, which the happy couple hosted in the beautiful Sun Pavilion, with its stained glass, domed roof. I love how Alison and Rob chose a flowering plant on each table, instead of cut blooms - so much more eco-friendly, and fitting with their English garden theme. Other stealworthy ideas include the bridesmaids' corsages, the simple scrolling font on their stationery, and the Elvis song table names. All these gorgeous pictures published with thanks to Olivia Brabbs Photography.

Real Wedding: Meredith & Scott

It always rains in the UK - that's why so many of us get married abroad - 50,000 a year at the last counting.  But when the heavens opened on Meredith and Scott's big day, it didn't spoil their wedding, they just made a feature of the umbrellas, and smiled through the drips.  There's something particularly special about this garden celebration - you can almost feel the authenticity and affection shining through the pics - and that's thanks to photographer Jessamyn Harris - who's just brilliant at her job!
