Real Wedding: Cat & Matt

Fire engines and weddings don't normally go together, but when a fireman's marrying the girl of his dreams, it's a whole different story. The lovely Cat & Matt celebrated their big day in Guildford, and travelled to the church in a vintage engine. While the day started slightly drizzly, the sun came out for the reception, and the lovely Lily & Frank Photography made the most of it, with these gorgeous pictures full of golden light. The happy couple chose The Barn at Bury Court for their reception, and filled with pink-tinted favours and luxurious roses. I'm a huge fan of Cat's cute floral hair clip, and her light veil, which she wore over her face as she walked down the aisle {how romantic!}. The bridesmaids and ushers were colour-coded in fushia, making for a super-stylish wedding party, and fantastic pictures.

Hi-Fi Wedding

To band or not to band, that is the question.... or at least it's the question I'm asking right now. With over a year to go before my own big day, you'd think that I'd have more important things to think about, but I'm really worried we won't find a good band in the South of France. The alternative is a DJ, but how to choose the playlist?  Luckily, via the power of Twitter {follow me here}, I found out about Hi-Fi Weddings, a site specially designed to provide inspiration for your wedding mix. From the song for your walk down the aisle, to the very last dance, Hi-Fi Weddings encourages you to share your wedding playlist, or to gather ideas from other like-minded brides and grooms. Honestly, it's the best site ever!

I Do Tattoo

Okay, so I have to admit, this is not one for me. But if you're going to get a tattoo for your wedding, why not try something temporary before you take the plunge?  I Do Tattoo promises a modern twist on the timeless tradition of wearing something blue, so if you're not the type of girl to wear a garter, you could always try a tattoo. And for the ladies out there who are thinking of getting Mrs X on their body, I have three words of warning...... Mrs Cheryl Cole.

Real Wedding: Jennifer & Andrew

The emphasis at this gorgeous wedding was the natural world. Jennifer and Andrew are free spirited souls with a strong sense of green living, and they reinforced this through the detailing on their big day. From the mossy centerpieces, to the national park setting, the bride's eco-friendly engagement ring, and the simple seasonal flower bouquets, the happy couple had one eye on romance and the other on sustainability. Inspired? Check out the Green Bride Guide for advice, use pots of plants rather than cut flowers, buy your bridesmaids' gowns second-hand, and save energy by lighting the ceremony with candles. Throw in a wedding breakfast made with locally grown food, and you'll be the perfect eco-couple. Gorgeous pictures as ever from the girls at Simply Bloom.

Message from the happy couple about Jennifer's eco-friendly engagement ring: "Andrew gave Jennifer a sapphire engagement ring on September 5th, 2008, at the chapel at Camp Comer. The ring contains five stones (one sapphire and four diamonds). All of the stones were ethically sourced: the diamonds from Canada and the sapphire from Sri-Lanka. The white gold used to make the ring is renewed gold, or recycled. Additionally, the company provides each ring in a wooden box and prints all certificates of authentication on recycled paper with recycled ink."

Real Wedding: Vicky & Nik

Stunning English wedding for you today, continuing what's become a bit of a blue theme this week. Vicky and Nik could not have been luckier with the weather for their wedding in Kent. Sunny, with just enough clouds to make for some dramatic skies, and dry all day. I'm loving Vicky's seed-pearl tiara and gorgeous princess-style dress, plus her bridesmaids' teal green dresses. Dramatic florals and elegant stationery finish the look, while the gorgeous venue, called Cooling Castle Barn speaks for itself. Is there anything more romantic than an historic castle? Huge thanks to Eliza Claire Photography for her lovely pictures.

Topped with Love

Every wedding has a cake, and in my view a cake without a topper is a naked cake. But what style will you choose? The tide has turned against minature models of the bride and groom, in favour of personal decorations. Go retro by all means, but if you're looking for something boutique, try these cute love birds from Emilie Friday.

Real Wedding: Carmen & Vincent

Decorating your wedding reception in these post-credit crunch days doesn't need to be difficult, particularly thanks to the help of the lovely ladies over at Utterly Engaged e-zine. I'm loving the use of eye-catching blue lanterns at Carmen and Vincent's gorgeous wedding, plus the balls of blue carnations. Just goes to show that if you pick a stand-out colour as the basis of your big day theme, then everything else falls into place. Perfect if you're new to party planning. Blossoming Jewellery

Jewellery modelled on the natural world makes me happy, and these gorgeous little hydrangea blossoms have brightened my day. The detailing is exquisite, and I love the rusticity of the silver ring band. Buy one for yourself, and pick up the earrings as perfect presents for your bridesmaids, particularly if you're having a garden wedding. Designed by Patrick Irla, and handmade in his Michigan studio, you can buy them online right here.

Lovely Dresses

Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue. And the dreams that you dare to dream, really do come true.
Lovely Bride is one of those dream wedding boutiques that make me want to sing. I've gone gooey-eyed just browsing the website. The good news is that you don't have to go over the rainbow to find them, the bad news is that you have to cross the Atlantic {sigh!}. But the trip the NYC will be worth it, just look at these dreamy dresses. Click your heels three times and repeat after me, "there's no place like Lovely Bride"....

Real Wedding: Bridget & Jeremy

Finding it hard to pick a colour theme for your wedding? Try using a spectrum of shades instead. Bridget and Jeremy picked a series of gorgeous lilacs, blues and mauves, and they worked perfectly because they're all gradations of the same tone. Not so sure what that means? For help on choosing a colour scheme, try the Colour Palette Generator and for an explanation of colour hues check out Colour Cube. So back to the wedding! Inspiration-spots include Bridget's fabulous silver shoes, her sexy off-the-shoulder dress and her cute plaited up-do. I'm also loving the stationery, and the clever use of blue food dye in the vases - so much cheaper than buying tinted glassware, and it would work with every colour. Gorgeous pictures as ever via the girls at Simply Bloom - love them!
