Real Sheer Romance Wedding: Sabrina & Alex

When it comes to dreamy wedding inspiration, it doesn't get better than a Monique L’Huillier wedding dress, frothy white peonies, pink roses and large round balloons. Sabrina and Alex's wedding is a study in romance, and I've fallen for their luxury style. Sabrina chose a soft colour palette of pinks and neutrals, and a church wedding, followed by a marquee reception at Alex's family home. For once the weather behaved, and there's nothing better than the English countryside on a sunshiny day. Don't miss my favourite stealworthy ideas - the glamorous cream Rolls Royce, the pretty Lela Rose Dessy bridesmaid dresses, and the elegant Emma Jo wedding stationery tied up with black and white baker's twine. More fabulous details in the reception pictures, coming soon! Huge thanks to Maria De Faci for her gorgeous pictures of the day!

We celebrated our wedding on 30th June, at Alex’s family home. We wanted to keep the decor natural, romantic and stylish, with a colour palette of neutrals and pinks. Alex is a serious fisherman so we had a fishing motif running through the wedding {on all the stationery, names of tables etc}.

Monique L’Huillier made my wedding dress, our florist was Jane Campsie at the Garden Inn in Stockbridge. She was an absolute dream to work with.

My bridesmaids wore the Lela Rose dress from Dessy.

Maria de Faci was our wedding photographer. We liked the style of her photography and her portfolio.

Luxury Pretty-in-Pink Pastel Wedding Cakes

Looking back on my wedding blog posts for Before the Big Day, I realised I'm not featuring enough wedding cakes! They're a key part of any wedding day, and I'm always dazzled by the talent of the UK's expert cake makers. They're sugary artists! Naomi founded her home-baking company, The Vanilla Parlour in Surrey, a few years ago, and she's already at the top of her game. Just take a look at these pastel beauties - the flowers are exquisite. Choose your flavour and your filling, or create a completely original design.....personally I'm in love with the pastel blue wedding cake below.

How Will You Wear Your Wedding Veil?

Will you be wearing a wedding veil? And will you walk down the aisle with it covering your face? There's something deliciously romantic about the moment when a groom moves the veil away from his bride's face, although fewer brides choose the traditional option nowadays. Long, cathedral-length veils like the Delphine Manivet veil I chose for my wedding day, are also falling out of fashion, with birdcage veils, and mini fascinator-style veils gaining in popularity. I'm particularly keen on the whimsical range offered by online boutique, Twigs & Honey. They're designed to be fastened quite far forward in your hair, and then folded back as you greet your future husband. So maybe the old-school tradition will pose a come-back. What do you think - forwards, or backwards?

Midsummer Night's Dream Wedding Theme

Take a dose of literature, a dollop of romance, add a sprinkle of fairydust, and you've got one of my favourite wedding themes - A Midsummer Night's Dream. A fairy theme would work well for any rural, forest or countryside wedding, just imagine luxurious flower displays, bridesmaids dressed in flowing chiffon, and pageboys wearing Puck-ish flower crowns. Shakespeare's poetry is perfect for wedding ceremony readings, and masks make for brilliant wedding favours. Fill your wedding stationery envelopes with glittery confetti, and ask for garden-themed wedding gifts. For more ideas, take a look at this incredible Midsummer Night's Dream themed wedding shoot, styled by Tricia Fountaine and pictured by Elizabeth Messina.

Real Romantic Blush Wedding: Karen & Howard

*Sigh* This is one of those exquisite weddings that reminds me of why I started Before the Big Day. It's a perfect combination of fashion, flowers, graphic design, cake-making and tailoring. Karen and Howard put so much thought into their big day that I have tonnes of favourite details - not least the chandelier detailing on the Paperie Sheep stationery, which so cleverly mimics the decor of their stunning venue. I'm totally obsessed with Karen's gorgeous elegant Pronovias dress, and her to-die-for floral Badgley Mischka shoes. Other stealworthy ideas include the bridesmaids' Grecian style dresses, the peony decorated cake, and the macaroon favours. I love macaroons, I love the feminine pink, and I love how the whole affair is inbued with a sense of delicious romance. Just how a wedding should be! Huge thanks to Stephanie Williams for capturing it with such style.

Key to My Heart Wedding Favours

Keys are romantic. Love letters written on keys are beyond romantic - in my view they're up there with Shakespearean sonnets and a good old proposal on one knee. That might explain why I've fallen hook, line and sinker for this cute laser-cut key, or it might be because I love all of Mister Rob's work. Pick up the limited edition keys from his online shop here, or pop down to his Colombia Road shop in London.
