Will You Wear Glasses On Your Wedding Day?

My first pair of glasses were proper NHS-style specs - the type that strangely, are now in fashion! They definitely weren't cool then, and it's left me with a long-standing hatred of being seen in glasses. I own a pair, but my husband didn't even see me in them until we'd been doing out a year, and I'd probably rather go out in a bikini in winter, than without my Acuvue lenses. So there was never any chance of me wearing glasses at my wedding, but there's definitely a growing trend towards brides and grooms walking down the aisle, all spec'd up. What are your thoughts? More wedding picture inspiration on my Pinterest board.

Would You Rent Your Wedding Dress?

Would you ever rent your wedding dress? One of my friends is having two weddings, one secret and civil, and the other in a field on her parents' farm. She can't afford two wedding gowns, so she's planning to borrow her civil ceremony dress from Wish Want Wear. I've recently tried their service out, and it's amazing! You can borrow wedding dresses worth over £2000 for a tenth of the price, which leaves plenty of pennies left over for your wedding reception, or perhaps a change of outfit half-way through the reception {double-wedding-dress-oh-yes!}. It would work for bridesmaids dresses as well, because you can search by colour, and pick and mix outfits that best suit your maids and your wedding theme. See what you think of the dresses below, but it's worth checking out the Wish Want Wear website as well.

Real Vintage Rustic Yurt Wedding Shoot - Part 2

Would you consider a yurt wedding? With marquees fast becoming the reception venue of choice for budget-conscious brides, and back-garden weddings popular with DIY-minded couples, wedding vendors are getting in on the act with a fantastic range of unusual tents. Medieval-style, striped pavilion tents and giant top hat tents are some of my favourites, along with cosy yurts like the one by Yurt Viva featured in this wedding shoot. Isn't it lovely? Add in vintage crockery and accessories by The Vintage Hire, rustic woven tools, a delicious Sweetie Favour Buffet by The Gloucestershire Wedding Company and a beautiful wedding cake and cupcakes by The Chocolate Strawberry, and it all starts to look rather perfect. I'm loving the mismatched wild flowers, the succulent planters and the seed wedding favours. Other pretty wedding-details-to-steal include the vintage music bunting {so easy to DIY}, the medieval-style chandeliers, and retro-striped sweetie bags {buy yours here}. Huge thanks to Christy Blanch Photography for these lovely pictures!

Real Vintage Rustic Yurt Wedding Shoot

It's time for a wedding treat! Feast your eyes on the pretty wedding details in this gorgeous shoot by Christy Blanch Photography, showcasing talented wedding suppliers in Gloucestershire. The vintage theme fits in perfectly with all the rustic garden details, including the eccentric grandfather clock and cute powder-blue potting shed. With pretty mismatched vintage crockery and accessories by The Vintage Hire, and stunning wild-flower bouquets, it's a DIY bride's dream wedding. If you're planning your own backgarden wedding, gather your wedding flowers from the countryside on the morning of your big day, and collect old watering cans and bottles for rustic vessels. Add rosemary for a sweet scent, and serve Pimm's, cucumber sandwiches and cupcakes for a quintessential English wedding. More fabulous pictures from this wedding shoot coming in Part 2, including a yurt marquee - oh yes! Huge thanks once again to Christy Blanch Photography for these lovely pictures!

The New Wedding Trend - Naked Wedding Cakes

Have you considered getting naked for your wedding day? Getting a naked wedding cake, that is? It's the US wedding trend this summer season, {Hilary Duff even had one at her wedding}, and it looks set to spread across the Atlantic for British brides' autumn and winter weddings. I'm really loving the non-icing look - it's charming and whimsical, and perfect for DIY brides looking to bake their own wedding cake. For decoration, just add flowers, fruit, dripped icing, or succulents, plus anything else that might fit in with your wedding theme. For a glamorous twist on the naked cake look, why not try a French croquembouche wedding cake. We had one at our wedding, and it went down a storm! For more wedding cake inspiration, do check out my Pinterest page.

Introducing PreOwned Wedding Dresses

Wedding dresses are way too expensive, and {mildly controversially} I reckon wedding dress designers take advantage of brides by overcharging. Nervous brides want to look their very best on their wedding day, they're often nervous about being the centre of attention, and they're willing to spend crazy-money to make sure they feel super-special. There's no escaping the prettiest wedding gowns tend to be the most expensive. But now there's a way you can get the wedding dress you want, without breaking the bank, and it's all thanks to PreOwned Wedding Dresses. This AMAZING website is the modern bride's way to buy a wedding dress. With over 10,000 new sample, and used wedding gowns, The One is out there waiting for you, with a bargain price tag. PreOwned Wedding Dresses list gowns from all your favourite designers, {think Monique Lhuillier, Jenny Packham, Vera Wang & more} plus stunning pre-owned wedding accessories as well. Here's just a few of my favourite wedding gowns on sale now, but check out the website for your favourite designer.

Big Bouquet OR Single Bloom - A New Wedding Trend

As a wedding blogger, it's my job to track the latest wedding fashions and fads, and in the last few months I've spotted something of a mini-trend in bridal bouquets. It seems that in these financially-stretched times, brides are opting for minimalist single blooms, rather than traditional bunches of flowers. I find this works best with large blooms like dahlias, open peonies and chrysanthemums. Or you could DIY your own giant paper flower via this tutorial by The House That Lars Built {an amazing DIY wedding blog}. Which do you prefer? Big bridal bouquet, or single bloom?
