Cute Felt Heart Wedding Favours

This winter wedding season is all about fabulous felt! It's being used in all the best wedding details, from favours to decorations. It's one of the easiest materials for crafting, as your stitches either disappear in the fabric, or work as a detail in the design. It's also super-cheap, a key asset for the DIY bride. Check out a tutorial on how to create your own hearts here or here, and buy your felt from eBay. I've fallen in love with these gorgeous felt and wool hearts by Sweet PB, so if you're not in the mood for wedding DIY, you can always get creative with your credit card! I'd use them as table decorations that would double as favours, or you could create giant hearts for your flower girls to carry instead of bouquets.

Real Luxe New York City Wedding: Tricia & Raheem

Is it just me, or is everything bigger and better in the US of A? As we all shiver in the wintry weather, I thought we should celebrate the brilliant winter wedding location of New York City. Stunning couple Tricia and Raheem tied the knot in super-style with hot pink as their signature colour, which they totally worked at their reception. Check out pink lighting - sooo flattering, and the amazing table flower displays mixed with the the fat golden candles. A big mention has to go out for the elegant-but-sexy bridesmaids' dresses, Tricia was kind to her girlfriends, and I can totally see them wearing those dresses again! Thank you to Punam Bean for her fantastic shots - what do you think of the pink?

Real Fairytale Dress Wedding: Sophie & Chris

In many ways, I wish I'd chosen a romantic fairytale wedding dress. There's something truly bridal about wearing a gown that's completely out of the ordinary. Something sweeping and feminine, just like the exquisite gown in this Real Wedding. The lovely Sophie chose a gorgeous, feathery wedding gown with a ruffled full skirt, and I'm head-over-heels in love! Throw in the luxurious rose bouquet, and I'm in bridal-heaven. I'm also loving all the wonderful wedding details, from the wooden LOVE letters, to the mini-vases of sweet-scented freesias and carnations on the tables, and the candy-striped wedding cake. Sophie and Chris celebrated their big day with a church ceremony, followed by their reception at the very stylish Havana Spoon in Hove. Restaurants are a great place to host your wedding reception, as you can guarantee the food will be good, and a reasonably-priced set menu will keep your costs down. A big welcome and huge thanks to Katariina from Light Trick Photography, for her fantastic photographs.

Fabulous Weekend Wedding Blog Links

Happy Weekend! How was yours? We spent ours exploring Brussels, my home for this month. If you'd like to see a few pictures, check out my Twitter feed. Brussels is a fabulous city, compact, and full of fantastic restaurants and bars. This afternoon we discovered the famous Flea Market or Marché aux Puces, where I found all sorts of fabulous vintage finds. Antique markets and flea markets are fantastic places to look for wedding inspiration, particularly if you're planning too add a few vintage details to your wedding. Vintage Postcard Save the Dates

If you're having a summer wedding, we here at Before the Big Day recommend a Save the Date card. You want to make sure all your friends can come to your wedding, and the best way to guarantee their attendance is to get the message out as soon as possible. Save the Dates also give you the opportunity to build the excitement around your wedding, so if you're considering a vintage affair, then you'll love these whimsical postcards by the Sunshine Greeting Card Company. Send them a picture of the two of you, and they'll take care of the rest, according to your wording and colour requests. Whatsmore, this design can be printed as a one-sided card, postcard, or a magnet for your friends to stick to their fridge!

Magical Laser-Cut Wedding Invitations

When I started planning my wedding, I really wanted to create a feeling of excitement for our guests. I didn't want it to be just another summer wedding, where everything feels a bit samey. The first challenge was to pick the perfect wedding stationery, as I wanted it to start building a sense of anticipation. After months of indecision, I finally accepted we didn't have the budget for truly fabulous stationery, so I ended up designing it myself. However, if we'd had the budget, I definitely would have chosen a boutique wedding stationery like Boris & Doris. Their laser-cut wedding invitations are truly magical, and you can personalise them with your own names or initials, to make them truly unique to you. Even their website is cute, as it's decorated with bunting and butterflies. Stop press! They've just started making Save the Dates and laser-cut place markers as well.

Real South African Vineyard Wedding: Pieter & Marlize

Autumn weddings are always up there with my favourites. There's something about the golden light, and the changing leaves, that makes them effortlessly romantic. Pieter and Marlize chose to celebrate their big day on the beautiful Dornier Wine Estate in Stellenbosch in South Africa, known for its incredible wines and exquisite scenary. I've fallen for Marlize's elegant simple style, her bridesmaids' parasols and simple grey gowns, plus the cute succulent favours {super easy to DIY}. Don't miss the exotic protea flowers, they're the national flower in South Africa, but you can buy them in Britain too. They make for a dramatic look, and you only need a few, so they can work out cheaper than you think. Congratulations to Gareth and Kate from welovepictures (too) for their truly stunning photographs.
