Vintage Silhouette Stationery & Wedding Favours

There's something uniquely romantic about the silhouette. Hugely popular as gifts in the eighteenth century, they'll add an antique feel to a vintage wedding day. Add your profiles to your wedding stationery, or why not hire an artist to cut freehand portraits of your guests during the reception. I'd do it, but I hate my profile {huge nose}! Contact the Roving Artist or Karl Johnson for on-the-spot art, or Le Papier Studio for prints and invitations.

Supporting Japan Part 3

Just a quick new posting in my quest to support Japan. Support their local businesses by picking up a few cute prducts from Japanese Etsy stores, or support Etsy sellers who are donating money to the Japanese Relief Fund. I've fallen for these gorgeous origami crane earrings. Why not buy a few pairs for your bridesmaids, or give paper cranes as favours for your guests?

Terrarium Wedding Favours

Ever heard of a terrarium?  Me either, until I started searching for mossy inspiration for my Midsommer's Night Dream feature. After a couple of clicks, I found myself exploring delicate worlds of miniature ferns, bromeliads and the occasional toadstool.  Perfect for the anti-gardener, many of terrariums come sealed, and require little or no care.  Use them as a table centre-piece, or favour your guests with miniatures, and add an air of magical mystique to your big day.

Wedding Badges

Finding a truly original favour idea is pretty difficult, and I'm not saying that button badges are brand new, but they are my favourite trend for spring. Design your own, or pick them up via Etsy, they're a brilliant way to personalise your wedding, and they'll be a lasting momento. Just imagine spotting one on a friend's lapel or bag-strap, two years after your big day. It'll bring back on the memories! These are from  Kikichoo {top collage}and Button Empire {bottom collage}.

Puzzle Wedding Guest Book

Wedding guest books are a huge trend right now, and brides are coming up with clever ideas to encourage their friends and family to leave a message. From plates to wish trees, and vintage post boxes and recipe cards, there's plenty of options, but none as original as this one. BellaPuzzlesToo create bespoke jigsaw puzzles for your big day, and package them up with two special pens so your guests can sign a piece each. Choose the number of pieces you want, the shape of the puzzle {a heart, your state, a tree} and any special pieces you want {names or initials, a short phrase, wedding date, a figure like a heart}. Aren't they amazing?

Wonderful Wedding Ideas

Wedding ideas can come from anywhere, and one of my secret spots for finding inspiration is design websites. Along with all the bigger items, like furniture and lamps, they also have fantastic finds, like the selection below. They're fresh from the new season's collection at Love, Loans & Linen. I'm going to be using the blackboards to label the buffet; Dig in!, Enjoy!, Yum!, the wildflower sticks as favours, and the luggage tags as placemarkers. Check out Love, Loans & Linen for more wedding ideas.

Divine Sweetness

Yummy! Don't these look incredibly edible? I'm a huge fan of French macaroons - I love their pastel colours, their crispy chewiness, and the fact they're super-chic right now. Add them to your big day for a touch of je ne sais quoi. But wait! There's a secret to these tasty treats. They're actually replicas made of polymer clay by the clever artist at Divine Sweetness. Perfect as place card holders and wedding favours, they'll act as a sweet souvenirs of your big day. Flavours include raspberry, strawberry, pistachio, lemon-meringue, bubblegum and cacao. Lovebird Duo

These two belong together, aren't they the cutest! Just look at their gorgeous heart-shaped, feathery wings. I'd add them to a sweetheart table for a touch of rustic chic. Your guests could admire them as they added comments to your visitors' book, and then afterwards you could keep them by your bed where they'll lovingly look after your rings. Each little bird is unique and handmade by Elizabeth Prince. Check out her Folksy shop here and her blog here. Also loving the little heart dish, perfect for a ring-pillow on your wedding day.

I'm A Little Tea-Pot

Perfect for a bridal shower, hen night or vintage-themed wedding, these gorgeous handcrafted tea pots are the cutest favour boxes I've seen in a long while. Handmade by Joanne in Manchester, and sold in her Etsy boutique Vintage Twee, they'd bring a touch of English tradition to your big day. Fill them with sweeties, lavender, or a handmixed tea-bag to make them your own, and sit back, safe in the knowledge you've added something truly original to your wedding.

Homemaker Favours

Can you bake? I can't cook for toffee, and that's why I love this idea that's winged its way over from the States. The idea is that you ask all your guests to write up their favourite recipe, and leave it as a favour on your wedding day. Not only does it make for a gorgeous keepsake cookery book, but you and your husband have a future of fabulous meals together. Now all you've got to do is figure out who does the washing-up. All the letterpress cards below are from The Petite Press.

Bee Mine

Is there anything sweeter than this honeycomb heart? I'm hugely passionate about paper cuts - there's something uniquely romantic about an individual, handmade piece of art. Made by Louveteau in her Idaho studio, you can choose whether you'd like this heart mounted on white card, or left as a stand alone curio for your mantlepiece. I reckon they'd make the perfect every-day Valentine present. Bee Mine?

Personalising jam jars is pretty simple, just print out the gorgeous free templates below, reach for the trusty glue and get sticking. Say it with Verse

You've said it with diamonds and the best Chanel, now give the gift of expression and say it with verse. Impressed? Unfortunately, it's not my own work, but that of the clever people at Poetry A La Carte, who compose bespoke poems for those of us who feel romantic, but don't know how to express it. All you need to do is fill in a questionnaire on their website about the subject of 'your' poem, pay them £150, and they'll put pen to paper on your behalf. Fantastic as a surprise present for your groom, or even as a wedding gift for a happy couple. **Hot off the Press** The lovely Mark at Poetry A La Carte is offering £25 off each poem to readers of Before the Big Day!
