Real Wedding: Stephanie & Wil

Who says a wedding dress has to be white? If you're a bride looking to break with tradition, check out Stephanie's gorgeous tinted gown for inspiration. Its sculptural lines are softened by romantic pink, making it perfect for the modern bride. Other pink hints come from the macaroons, florals and favours, plus {my fav} the frosting on doughnuts. Stephanie's secret is to use different tones of pink, and to throw in black detailing to stop it all getting too saccharine. Other details to copy include the Stephanie's chic black hat & grey nails, Wil's sharp suit and the fabulous desert table - go on, treat your guests, they'll love you for it! Huge thanks to the talented team at Our Labour of Love for their gorgeous pics.

DIY Week #3 - Dramatic Detail

Wow! This DIY wedding is a detail fest, and goes to show just how creative you can get, with a healthy dollop of enthusiasm and effort. Ashley and Matt have a shared love of music, and used old-skool vinyl as the theme for their big day. Their plates, printed picnic rugs, table numbers and favours all referenced records, while their use of black, white and yellow created a truly dramatic effect. Ashley also had the most original accessory I've seen on a bride so far - a cast on her leg. Evidence that you can literally break bones while preparing for your big day, and still look totally stunning. Huge thanks to Our Labour of Love for their gorgeous pictures.

Real Wedding: Irene & Quinn

On a crisp cold morning like today, it didn't feel right to feature a summer wedding, so here's a gorgeous winter one from New York instead. Irene and Quinn picked a gorgeous venue in the heart of historic South Street Seaport in Lower Manhattan, and said their vows as the sun set over the East River. I just adore Irene's outfit, from the lace overlay on her dress, to her A-line fur coat and full-length gloves - practical and elegant. A talented graphic designer, Irene designed and planned her wedding from scratch, creating invitations, monograms, coasters, menus and maps. Check out the their fabulous brocade cake and the stunning red flowers and table decorations. Many thanks to Karen Wise for her stunning photographs and collages.

Gothic Fantasy

Traditionally the bride wears white to her wedding, but what if you're not the traditional type? My advice? Do it your way - it's not your wedding unless it reflects your character. One couple that did just that are the fabulous Alyssa and Brian, who had a gothic vegan wedding. Alyssa wore a gorgeous black dress, and stunning starred veil, which she made herself! My favourite details have to be the tiny pumpkin, the dramatic invitations (made by Paper Source) and the cupcake wrappers which said "poison" and "beware" (as always double click on the pic for a closer view). Many thanks to Jessamyn Harris for her inspirational photographs.

Real Wedding: John & Elizabeth

Aren't these fabulous purples just the bomb?  I'm loving the deep aubergine shades, and is that a couple of artichokes I spy in the bridal bouquet?  Add in the black detailing on Elizabeth's dress, plus her sexy choker, and you've got a wedding made in heaven. John and Elizabeth married in January, and with winter fast approaching, it's the perfect time to take inspiration from their big day.  Many thanks to brilliant photographer Karen Wise for her gorgeous photographs.
