Vintage Wedding Hats, Headpieces & Corsages

Planning a vintage wedding? Or maybe a wedding with a forties theme? I've fallen in love with these super-stylish hats and hairpieces from Strumpet Bride. Handmade by Kitty and Wanda, you can either choose one of their beautiful read-to-wear pieces, or work with Strumpet on a bespoke design to match your wedding dress. Mothers-of-the-bride are going to love them, and why not give all your bridesmaids corsages to match? Gorgeous!

Bridal Hair Styles - Romantic Chignon

With only one month and 29 days before our wedding in France {not that I'm counting!}, it's time I chose my wedding hairstyle. We're heading over to Provence this weekend to taste-test our wedding caterers and choose the wine, and I'll also be meeting my hairdress Joel for the first time. He comes highly recommended by a lady from our string quartet, so hopefully we'll click straight away, despite the language barrier! He asked me to bring some pictures of the types of hairstyle I'd like on my wedding day, so I spent a good few hours scanning the internet for 'loose buns' and 'romantic chignon'. Here's a collage of some of my favourites - do you like?

Giant Hairclip

Not really a wedding idea, but I simply had to feature this giant hair clip. I love it! It's hilariously large, and deliciously comic, and best of all, useful. Designed by Adia Kibur, and available online from Shopbop, they come in gold, silver and black. Sometimes bigger is better.

Flower Fairy

There's something uniquely romantic about wearing flowers in your hair, and that's why I've fallen for these gorgeous hair pieces by Which Goose. They remind me of the fairies in A Midsummer's Night Dream, or some other sylvan tale. The crowns are made from a base of dried natural vines, stripped, woven and decorated with artificial flowers. Match them with a pair of shoes or clutch bag for the full flower fairy effect! Perfect for a rural wedding, or to add a touch of countryside to an urban affair.

Twigs & Honey

Not keen on veils? Wondering what on earth to wear instead? Try one of these exquisite fascinators from Twigs & Honey. Chic, original and utterly romantic, they'll add a touch of pretty pastel to your big day, without breaking the bank. Self-taught, boutique designer Myra Callan creates every one from her studio in Oregon, and is more than happy to take on bespoke requests. Don't forget your bridesmaids, they'd look stunning in these feathered hats or corsages, and you could choose different colours according to their personality. Check out The Twigs and Honey website for Myra's whole collection.

Something Borrowed

Every now and then someone comes along with a truly genius idea. And it's often so simple, you can't believe you didn't come up with it first. Josephine Sharp from Your Something Borrowed has had one of those eureka moments, and created a gorgeous archive of handmade jewellery and hair accessories. It's a boutique, but not as you know it, as every piece can either be bought, or borrowed, depending on your budget or desire. But it gets even better than that, because the collection itself is gorgeous! Sitting somewhere between 1920’s Paris and 1950’s Hollywood, you can pick up everything from a lustrous multi-strand pearl and marcasite necklace to a glittering tiered Deco tiara. Yum!! Josephine is offering 10% off to Before the Big Day readers, just use the code Big Day when you check out.
