An Ibiza Seaside Wedding with Blush & Lace Accents

A gleaming white Rolls Royce, a sparkly wedding theme, and a seaside venue on the island of Ibiza - you can tell this wedding is going to be a cracker already! I've fallen for the gorgeous bride, Claire and her stunning 'Amelie' gown by Gemy Maalouf, and you'll love her pretty-in-pink bridesmaids dresses. If you're planning a destination wedding, you'll find every single picture is going to be seriously Pin-worthy. Huge thanks to Ily Grantham for her stunning photographs, and to Claire and Jonny for filling in my questionnaire with so many helpful tips.

We hosted our wedding in Ibiza!! We both went to Ibiza a few years ago for my birthday with a group of friends. Back then, we were just friends but during the week, we started to feel differently about each other – the magic of Ibiza made us fall in love!

I went on a recce with my maid of honour and made appointments with lots of venues on the island over 3 days – and visited lots of beautiful churches! It was a tough job but someone had to do it! ;) Our ceremony took place at San Agustin Church, and we chose the Elixir Shore Club for our reception venue.

We kept it really simple as the venue was so beautiful and had the most beautiful backdrop of Es Vedra – the magical island of love.

We didn't put too much thought on style or themes; we were just true to ourselves, and styled our wedding around a look that we both like, ultimately shabby chic with a touch of sparkle! We love Ibiza, the venues are so stunning that we didn’t need to kill them by over decorating.

We had lots of DIY projects! We painted mason jars blush pink to match the bridesmaid dresses and filled them with the bridal parties bouquets {a great money saver}. We made large gold table numbers and gold accent place settings. We also had baskets of flip flops for guests, a guest book table, and photos of passed loved ones–all 'labelled' with relevant chalk boards.

For wedding favours, we bought white Rayban style sunglasses from I Need Promotionals on Etsy. We were pretty sure it was going to be very sunny, and we thought that they would be a nice keepsake for guests – and useful for the rest of their holiday in Ibiza! We had our logo printed on the arms - I think they went down well with the guests.

We decided against a wedding cake – we felt it the only reason we would get one would be for tradition, and that wasn't really us. The wedding breakfast wasn't until the evening and who wants cake after a big meal at 9pm in Ibizan heat?!...

A few extra details - the bridal car - a Rolls Royce Silver Cloud from Rolls Royce Ibiza, and the owner / driver Frankie was amazing, a real gent and really added to the amazingness of the day.

We knew straight away that we wanted passport style invitations, in fitting with our destination wedding. We ordered these from By Invitation Only. They matched the passport cover colour to the blue/grey colour of our wedding.

Our wedding photographer was Ily Grantham. We met Ily when she did our engagement shoot in Arizona and we fell in love with her!

We were quite nervous about doing a photo shoot and felt a bit uncomfortable at first but within minutes, Ily had us relaxed, enjoying it – and the photos were incredible!!! We knew we had to fly Ily out to Ibiza!

I loved planning our wedding! It got a tad stressful at times, with it being overseas, and because we did so much DIY decor – but we figured it all out…and now I miss the planning!

My advice? Get a wedding website – its so useful for staying organised and keeping everyone up to date. Get a good photographer {do your research and don't go for the cheapest}. It’s so important that you have a photographer you can trust –Ily knew us, exactly what we wanted, and this made things run so much easier on the day.

Get WedPics – it's an amazing app where all of your guests can upload their photos and you then have somewhere to look at all your wedding snaps from different perspectives.

Enjoy your wedding day and the planning, and don’t worry about what anyone else thinks. It's easy to overthink every decision you make - worrying about trying to please everyone – this is impossible, so just do what pleases you and it will all fall into place.

Don't put too much pressure on yourself. Although sites like Pinterest are a great tool to get ideas, remember that a lot of the pics are set up for photo shoots. Really, don’t stress too much about the details - just stay true to yourself {and your partner} and just enjoy yourself, your guests will too. And whatever stress you endeavour during the build up – let it go on the day – you deserve to have the best time.  You can get more details on our wedding website.
