Cute Wedding Day Jewellery

We all know that when a couple gets engaged, the boy gives his girl a ring to seal the deal. But did you know that traditionally, the groom gives the bride a present on her wedding day as well? Grooms at this stage might be shaking their heads slightly ("Where's my gift?"), until they spot this gorgeous necklace that could solve all their problems. So it's not a string of pearls, but it says we're together forever, and what more could a bride want on her big day? Pick one up from Lucky Accessories.

Exquisite Fabric Wedding Bouquet

Eco-friendly brides are finding ever-more inventive ways of avoiding cut flowers for their wedding bouquets. One option is to carry a bunch of fabric flowers, handmade to suit your wedding style and colour palette. I've discovered this gorgeous studio in London, where Gabrielle Louise creates one-of-a-kind, vintage inspired bouquets. Each one is unique, decorated with vintage trimmings, buttons, brooches, pearls and rhinestones. They're heirlooms of the future and totally gorgeous!

Wedding Diamonds for Hire

If you've got expensive tastes, and you want to look a million dollars on your wedding day, then you might  be finding the cost of bridal jewellery a bit of a shock. I certainly couldn't afford what I wanted, so I started looking into other options, and discovered a well-kept secret. Hiring diamonds. It's like having a huge jewellery box of glittery gorgeousness, but with none of the responsibility or expense. I found amazing earrings at Diamond Thrills, but they also do necklaces, tennis bracelets and even tiaras! Plus, because I asked really nicely, they're offering 10% off, if you mention Before the Big Day.

Little Treasures

My eye caught on this selection of gorgeous romantic jewellery, and I knew I needed to share! I love each unique piece, freshly designed in Sigal's Israel studio. My favourite pieces are the delicate rose headband and the knotted pearls. Both would be fabulous additions to a bridal outfit, and they're so reasonably priced, you could pick them up for your bridesmaids too! Check out Whimsy Treasures for more.

An Amazing Offer

There's something hugely appealing about jewellery inspired by nature. Maybe its because flowers themselves are so ephemeral, as is the glint of sunlight on a bee's fast-flickering wing. Designer of the Year 2008, Alex Monroe, exquisitely captures the essence of the British country garden with his gorgeous pieces, and he's offering an amazing 10% off to all readers of Before the Big Day. All you need to do is type in Big Day at the online check out. Perfect for presents for your bridesmaids.

Pretty Romantic

Elegant, feminine, whimsical and very pretty, I've fallen truly, madly, deeply for Fleur Avenue. Designed by Brenda in her Singapore studio, these pieces capture the essence of romance, making them perfect for a wedding. My particular favourite is the key necklace, but I also love the feather comb as a chic look for your bridesmaids.

Loving Antz

I'm not a huge fan of insects - who is? But for some reason this ant jewellery has really caught my eye. It's designed by Jezebel, and available from my favourite online shop Cat & Bird. I love the intricacy of the little leggies and antenae.

Cherry Blossom

Blossom is a gorgeous motif for a wedding day. It symbolises the flowering of something new, the start of a hopeful future, and more to the point, it's really pretty!  Along those lines, I've recently fallen hard for Shaun Leane's new collection, inspired by one of Japan’s oldest tales. According to legend, cherry blossoms are believed to bloom from seeds sprinkled by a goddess from the clouds of Fuji Mountain - how romantic! Shaun's collection includes a combination of beautiful silver branches, soft enamel flowers and precious stones, and you can find it in stores throughout the UK. Click here for more information and his website.

Blossoming Jewellery

Jewellery modelled on the natural world makes me happy, and these gorgeous little hydrangea blossoms have brightened my day. The detailing is exquisite, and I love the rusticity of the silver ring band. Buy one for yourself, and pick up the earrings as perfect presents for your bridesmaids, particularly if you're having a garden wedding. Designed by Patrick Irla, and handmade in his Michigan studio, you can buy them online right here.

Do You Like Butter?

Sometimes something, or someone catches your eye, and you lose all rationale, and have to have it. That's exactly how I feel about this little buttercup ring. I want it, I have to have it, and I'm going to race you all to Kathi Roussel's online shop to buy it. Ready, steady.....go!

Wedding Dress Jewellery

Cufflinks are a fantastic present for the special men on your wedding day. Choosing a pair that they'll all treasure for years is much harder. These silver cufflinks by Welsh designer, Kate Selene are handmade from samples of your wedding dress, which are sealed with resin to give a hard, durable finish. She even handstamps your wedding date on the back, making them an ideal momento of your big day. Buy them for your groom, his ushers, and the father-of-the-bride so they all match perfectly, and pick up necklaces and earrings for your bridesmaids. Alternatively, you could always buy them lucky wishbone necklaces, because you can never have too much luck!

Something Borrowed

Every now and then someone comes along with a truly genius idea. And it's often so simple, you can't believe you didn't come up with it first. Josephine Sharp from Your Something Borrowed has had one of those eureka moments, and created a gorgeous archive of handmade jewellery and hair accessories. It's a boutique, but not as you know it, as every piece can either be bought, or borrowed, depending on your budget or desire. But it gets even better than that, because the collection itself is gorgeous! Sitting somewhere between 1920’s Paris and 1950’s Hollywood, you can pick up everything from a lustrous multi-strand pearl and marcasite necklace to a glittering tiered Deco tiara. Yum!! Josephine is offering 10% off to Before the Big Day readers, just use the code Big Day when you check out.
