Real Quintessentially London Wedding: Cynthia & Tom - Part 2

Time for the second part of this exquisite London wedding, and it's wedding reception detail time! It's stealworthy ideas a-go-go, with beautiful bridesmaids in Reiss dresses, a groom wearing striped socks, and a beautiful bride in a 40's style wedding dress by Luci Di Bella. I love the fabulous Lincoln’s Inn Fields venue, with its historic hall and beautiful gardens. Cynthia and Tom kept with the vintage theme, choosing silver vases and vessels with lilac roses and lavender, with ornate wedding menus decorated with tassels and the Lincoln's Inn monogram. Favours reflected Cynthia's Australian heritage, with custom-made stubbies for the boys and Australian-made soaps for the girls. For a list of more of the wedding vendors, scroll on down. Huge thanks to Nikole Ramsay for her beautiful wedding pictures, and don't miss Part 1 here.

Real Quintessentially London Wedding: Cynthia & Tom

As a London bride myself, I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for London weddings. Throw in a vintage theme, a gorgeous bride, and fabulous wedding photographer, Nikole Ramsay, and I'm sold! You're going to love Cynthia and Tom's beautiful big day. They married at the historic Lincoln's Inn Chapel, on a perfect 30 degree day {you see, they do happen!}. The Inn is a charming oasis of clam in one of the busiest parts of London, and its stunning gardens are the perfect location for an elegant wedding reception. Take a look at Nikole's lovely pictures to spot all my favourite wedding ideas to steal. I love Cynthia's beautiful vintage-inspired Luci Di Bella wedding gown, her simple but stunning pearl earrings, and the pretty lilac she chose for her bridesmaids' dresses and wedding theme colour. Lavender was strewn at the entrance of the chapel, so guests released the scent as they walked up the aisle to take their seats - isn't this the best idea? Don't miss more fabulous details from this wedding in Part 2 - coming soon!

Making It Last - The Best Primers For Your Wedding Day

{Posting by Julia Bowden, Before the Big Day's Hair & Beauty Expert} I'm willing to bet that nearly all the brides reading this are working super-hard at the moment to make sure every detail of their wedding day looks perfect. But whatever you do, don't forget your make-up. After all, you're going to be in nearly all of your wedding photographs, so it's worth investing in some A star beauty products. As a professional make-up artist, my biggest tip is to make sure you use the correct primer as part of your wedding morning beauty regime. These fantastic products will ensure your make-up stays put all day - as you'll never know when that photographer is going to snap you! Primers smooth imperfections, and give something for the make-up to stick to so that it lasts and lasts. The best primers will also make your skin glow. Scroll on down for my favourites at the moment.

Skin Primer

Chanel Blanc {£30, Selfridges} - This is a clever multi-tasking primer. It adds contours and radiance, and uses a special blend of powders to reduce the appearance of lines, resulting in a flawless finish that makes foundation last all day. A must-have for your wedding day.

Eye Primer
Nars Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base {£18, John Lewis} - With its paste-like consistency, this clever little primer smooths on clear, and makes eyeshadows look more intense. It'll also ensure your eye make-up lasts all day without creasing.

Lip Primer
Elizabeth Arden Advanced Lip Fix {£19, Boots} - This brilliant beauty product smooths vertical lines and prevents lipstick from bleeding. It'll seal in moisture and plump up dry lips - making you lipstick ready for the 'You May Now Kiss The Bride' moment. Can be worn alone, or under lipstick to make it last all day.

Enjoy! JB x

Have You Heard Of The Wedding Handkerchief Tradition?

Are you planning a traditional wedding? There are so many British wedding traditions, it's hard to count them. At our wedding, we mostly created our own traditions {read our DIY service}, but we did recreate a Russian wedding tradition by fastening a padlock around a fence at our wedding venue {see my blog post}. It was a lovely private moment between the two of us - the myth being you'll stay together as long as the lock lasts. Another lovely tradition from the Southern states of the USA involves hankies! It's all based on a wedding fable claiming that if a bride cries on her wedding day, those shall be the last tears she sheds about her marriage. So in America, bridesmaids and brides often give each other handkerchiefs as wedding favours or presents. The tradition has spiralled, and now even wedding invitations come printed on handkerchiefs. Check out my Pinterest board for more ideas on how to incorporate this wedding tradition into your big day.

Pretty Shabby Chic English Wedding: Claire & Simon

Is there anything better than a traditional English wedding? Here in the UK, we do weddings in serious style, and there's nothing I like more than a shabby-chic themed wedding, packed with pretty details. Just take a look at Claire and Simon's beautiful wedding at South Lodge Hotel in Horsham, Sussex. I'm loving Claire's delicate pink and soft green colour theme, her beautiful rose bouquet and stunning lace wedding gown. Other wedding details to steal included the pretty floral name tags - which are super easy to DIY, the mirrored table flower arrangements - ditto, and the fun photo props - more on those here. Gorgeous pictures published with thanks to Hannah MacGregor at Funky Photographers.

Paper Wedding Cakes & The Perfect Wedding Favours

Mmmm cake. And double-mmmm, cake without calories! These gorgeous paper cakes are a simply genius idea for packaging real wedding cake or for favours. The clever people over at Imeon Design handmake each one, and will customise it according to your desires. Chocolate, carrot, victoria sponge, nothing is beyond them. The best thing is that they're only $30 each, which works out as just over $2 a slice - yum! As you scroll down for the pics, you might notice the strawberries....I know they're not cake, but I loved them so much I couldn't leave them out. I think they'd be perfect as favour bags for a summer wedding.
